Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI)

Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) is protection for the employer against claims made by an employee (current, past or potential) alleging wrongful termination, discrimination or sexual harassment.

What Does It Do?  An EPLI policy will pay for legal costs, judgements, and settlements (whether you are at fault or not) for claims brought against you or your business for:

  • Breach of Contract
  • Discrimination
  • Mismanagement of Employees
  • Promotional Practices
  • Sexual Harassment
  • Wrongful Termination
  • And other employment related
    issues.

When Is It Needed?  If you have one or more employees working for your business, you should have Employment Practices Liability Insurance.

All businesses that have employees should have an EPLI policy in place. You may be at a higher risk if your business does not have a solid employee handbook or formal corporate policies, does not have hiring practices in place to avoid discrimination, does not require sexual harassment training, has high employee turnover, or stores employees’ personally identifiable information (PII).
